Label

A label is a name, usually given by someone else, possibly to something not well understood, as in stigma.

Labels tag people and objects to make it easier for others.

Many people get a label of a diagnosis, spend years trying to figure out the meaning of the label and how it applies in their life and then spend the rest of their lives trying to get rid of it.
